Show what I’m listening to in emesene
Continuing the "Show what music I'm listening to while chatting" series, we'll show you now, how you can view in emesene, one of the most famous and most used instant messaging clients thats available as Open Source, what music you're listening to.

This time we won't need to download any plugin to make it work, as the developers of emesene allready added a extension to the installation package of emesene. Only thing we need to do is configure it correctly, to start showing what we're listening to.
First we'll need to iniciate our session on emesene and than choose the option "features" inside the "options" menu. It'll open a window similar to the one you can see below:
Once you've ticked the option CurrentSong, you can click on properties to configure it correctly...

On display style, you can change or modify the way you want to show the music you're listening to, and below you should choose your current music player. You can also configure this extension, to show the cover of the song's album, you're listening, you'll only have to tick the option of changing the image and "get cover from the web".

The CurrentSong plugin works on emesene with the following music players:
- XMMS
- Audacious
- Amarok
- Amarok2
- Rhythmbox
- Banshee
- QuodLibet
- Exaile
- Listen
- MPD
We hope this tutorial helps you to configure emesene to show what you're listening to, any duobts, just leave a comment.
If you prefer to use pidgin, as instant messaging software, follow the tutorial "View the music I'm listening to in pidgin"
